The tear drop style heel is a reasonably snug fit, but we found the bulging tear drop shaped bit of material a little off putting. What lets them down somewhat is the bagginess in the heel and across the top of the toes. The twin offset pull loops are easy to access and plenty big enough for fat fingers. This means that you can change the angle of the straps and give a little extra tightness in different areas of the shoe depending on your needs. The twin Velcro straps come from opposite sides and attach to circular pads rather than similar sized strips.

Delaminated after a couple climbs and many people told me La Sportiva will replace it, but I don't want it replaced, I want it to die asap. Heel is baggier, yet tight slingshot behind achilles. Fit differs from previous Katana- Feels somehow loose and mushy, less precise, yet more painful. Why the most recent crazy color Katana is inferior: Sportiva let me down gently, pretending I could still have the Katana VS but in a different color and making it a horrid shoe before discontinuing altogether.
I did stock up on 5 pairs of the previous Katana. If you haven't gotten the weird color before, make sure you like it before stocking up. It seems like the craziness of a shoe color is inversely related to its quality (like the hotness/intelligence chart, it's not a perfect correlation). is a horrible shoe and I'm glad it's phasing out. But this crazy color iteration, blue/green for men, pink for women. If the Katana were phased out in the previous iteration (black/yellow for men, soft hypercolor blue for women) I'd be upset.
